I'm tired of being told that dissent is precious, or as the perpetually self-impressed Keith Olbermann puts it, “Dissent and disagreement with government is the life’s blood of human freedom.” I don't think so, Keith. I think that's the mentality of a useless, coddled little TV personality who has so little context for concepts like duty, sacrifice, hard work and bravery, that he honestly believes that a little anti-government whining is all it takes to live in the greatest country on earth.
Dissent is certainly part of the equation... But so is shutting your fucking mouth, and being a soldier. And ninety nine times out of a hundred, shutting the fuck up is the correct answer. Even Keith knows this: “just every once in awhile it is right and the power to which it speaks, is wrong.” Yes, well, this time it's not right. You know what to do, Keith.
The bottom line is that I don't have to take your dissent seriously. Nobody is silencing you. Nobody is arresting you for dissenting. Please stop begging for it to happen, so you can live out your la resistance fantasies. You're not being oppressed, and you're not right.
Instead, people who are smarter than you, better informed than you, wiser than you, are saying you're a dipshit. You are a dipshit. You are wrong. You dissented, and then Donald Rumsfeld dissented with your dissent. Why is it heroic for you, and quackish for him?
I can hear the internal monologue now: "Some guys storm Mount Suribachi, some guys provide dissent at the critical moment. We're all heroes, just different places and times." Right Keith.
I'm also tired of this little game:
Partisan 1: You're Hitler, and your party is a bunch of Nazis!
Partisan 2: Oh, come on now, let's not be so black and white. If we use reason, if we think this through, we'd see that YOU'RE THE FUCKING NAZI.
Build yourself a dipshit little pedestal of intellectual superiority and objectivism, and then shriek the same bullshit as the guy you were just calling simpleminded. Appeal to moderation, even as you scream from the fringes.
And so it is that Keith starts talking about Nazis in paragraph 7. Donald Rumsfeld can't mention the Nazis, cause it's simply too ironic for a fascist like him to try that trick. That's only for liberals to do! And often!
But watch how real it gets. See, Rumsfeld accuses Olbermann (indrectly) of being a Neville Chamberlain. And then Olbermann does the two line play (as above), only with Chamberlain in place of Hitler. “Oh, come on now, let's not be so black and white. If we use reason, if we think this through, we'd see that YOU'RE THE FUCKING NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN.” Nice, Keith. You've got all the rhetorical clout of Peewee Herman.
But this line just kills me: That government [Chamberlain's], like Mr. Rumsfeld’s, had a monopoly on all the facts.
Really Keith? Are you sure? The Bush administration has a monopoly on all the facts. The same Bush administration that was trashed relentlessly in the news media for three years, for illegally outing a CIA agent? The administration that the FACTS later proved they neither outed, nor was the outing illegal? That government?
Fuck you Keith. You're free to dissent. You're free to dissent based upon lies. You're free to dissent based upon lies and never even take responsibility for it. You're so fucking free, you don't know what to do with yourself, and your prim little pompadour.
The people with the monopoly on facts are the members of the mainstream media, yourself included. You've got your voice. You use it with total irresponsibility. And then, when the people who really aught to silence your destructive and mindless blather still respect your right to speak, you fabricate censorship where none exists.

I'll remind you, Keith... Freedom is earned. If all it takes for somebody to silence you is for them to tell you just how stupid you really are, then how much do you deserve to be free? If you're saying something so precious to the nation, how can you let a little derision stop you?
It hasn't stopped George W Bush. He stood by his beliefs and kept after what he thinks is right, even as you and everyone in the mainstream media treated lies as fact, and demonized him endlessly for fabricated offenses. He's a man who wakes up every day to a barrage of accusations he knows are false. All he has to do is give his accusers their way, and they'll back off. He has earned his opinions. You, Keith, have not. You walk an easy road, attack the President, proclaim yourself a hero, and reap the adulation of similarly shallowminded liberals.
You thinks getting paid a shitload to write safe, trite colmns, is the modern day equivalent of Normandy. It's not. You're not fighting fascism. Instead, you spent four years screaming at Donald Rumsfeld, until he got so goddamn sick of it, he finally asked you to shut up. And then you scream about being censored.
