GR:AW inspired me to buy a new gaming machine, as my old one was pushing 2 years of age, which is a lot in gaming machine years.  The new machine makes the game considerably more playable, but can't erase the majority of its flaws.

The new machine gives much better frame rates, which translates into a couple miliseconds better reaction time.  In a game where the AI is precisely accurate, and extremely quick, this is helpful, and the game makes a lot more sense when you can actually outshoot people.  Still, it is excessively difficult by several orders of magnitude, at least in some sections, and basically degenerates into loading the game over and over and over until you've memorized where every enemy spawns from, or you just get lucky.

One mission stands out for this...  Your team rushes to secure a VIP, when the building he is in explodes, and you have to rush into the rubble and defend it from attack.  This attack includes, perhaps, two dozen infantry, several armored cars, and several tanks.  The tanks can kill you through walls with their cannons, and can kill your teammates similarly easily.  I was forced to perfectly memorize the sequence in which infantry, tanks and armored cars would enter the map, and despite knowing their exact order, despite nailing every infantryman the second he was visible, despite hitting every armored car with a grenade the second it was in range, and despite calling in strikes on the tanks the second it was possible, it still took me two dozen tries to get this done.  Far, FAR too hard, completely unfun, and extremely typical of how this game plays.  No real tactics required, just playing until you get killed, and memorizing where the guys were that did it.

All in all, this is game with a very nice engine, some good looking weapon models, and some nice features (most of which are covered in my initial reactions post).  Despite all that, the gameplay is just awful, not at all tactical or rewarding.  I've given the game a 6/10 since I think the visuals and polish made it worth playing, but absolutely nothing else is redeeming about the game.
