Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, was setting a nice, entertaining pace, when it crashed headlong into “Sword Guy and Axe Guy.” Throughout the game are boss fights, which can be challenging, but are generally very fun. Sword Guy and Axe Guy, are one of the most ridiculously irritating sequences in the history of gaming.
If anybody in charge of PoP:TTT is reading this, and there was a specific person in charge of coding and playtesting this sequence, I want you to murder them. If you are that person, please kill yourself. You have made one of the most frustratingly unrewarding and overly difficult segments in gaming history, and as entertaining as the previous portion of that game has been, this idiotic, apparently un-playtested segment is a travesty, and you should suffer on penalty of death.
What makes this fight particularly fucking wonderful, is that EVERY single time you reload and try it again, you have to watch the SAME fucking 10 second cutscene. Not only is this just generally tiresome, but it serves wonderfully to interrupt your timing, get you out of any flow you might have developed during your last attempt.
Truly, this is a spectacle. It's as if the people behind this game were cruising along, designing interesting architecture and cool puzzles, and then said “hey, let's let a brain damaged Iraqi ex-torturer design the next fight scene!” Wow, guys. Let's not. I'm not Dan Frank. In fact, only one person is Dan Frank, and thus only one person, in the entire WORLD enjoys games that offer them no chance whatsoever, and just repeatedly thrash the crap out of them, over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and OVER, with THE SAME FUCKING CUTSCENE between ever fucking iteration. What I like, are mildly challenging games, where I can do most things right away, a few things take a couple tries, and then once in a while, something takes five or six tries to get right. At no point do I want to be on my fifteenth attempt, and not have seen any improvement since my first.
