It's so wonderful, I can't even believe it.  As this article points out, “Christian groups led a furious campaign against Hollywood yesterday, accusing the Golden Globe Awards of promoting films with gay or “leftist” themes to serve a political agenda.”  Duh.

But what's really great is that my 5 minutes of Google research didn't even capture the full depth of the wonderments.

“Other winners included Philip Seymour Hoffman, named Best Actor for his portrayal of the homosexual writer Truman Capote”  That's wonderful.  See, I don't really know from Truman Capote.  I Googled him (double true) and when I saw he wrote Breakfast at Tiffany's, that was all I cared to know.  The thing is, I only have so much time in my life, and room in my brain, and Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of those things that I filed under “not to be noticed.”  It's the end of a conversation as far as I'm concerned.  Like, maybe it's a really wonderful story, but I decided long ago that I don't care about it, or about Truman Capote.  Turns out he was yet another homo in a movie that won a Golden Globe.

“Felicity Huffman, the Desperate Housewives actress who played a transsexual with a gay prostitute son in Transamerica.”  Not only is there a transsexual in the movie, there's a gay son.  Yet another gay character.  Amazing.  I recall hearing that 10% of people are gay.  That seemed high to me at the time, but apparently Hollywood and the HFPA think that about 107% of people are gay, maybe more.

So, let's add Capote to the list, bringing the total to 9 out of 13 movies awarded, for a 69% liberal rating.

All I can say is this:  When you've managed to put on such a show of political self-wankery that you make the Christian Right look like they've got a solid point, you are a complete fucking jackass.  That's you HFPA.  It's fine to make movies about gay people.  When you start ONLY making movies about gay people, then it's sorta ridiculous and offensive.  Not offensive because of gay people, offensive because you seriously think I need to spend money to have you preach at me.  I don't hate gay people.  I hate being preached at.  Now fuck off.

Feel free to go 100% gay, Europe.  I look forward to your idiot civilization dying out in two reproduction-free generations.
