So, first off, I got a mail, via the blog, from a guy who is looking for more background on who Joe Lyles, the “Conceptual Guerilla” is. He's been to Lyles' forums, he's got his own views on the nation's ills, etc. Not the best news for Joe that my blog is one of the top hits for searches on his name, but then again, it's no secret that Google loves my blog. I could do a post on “hot teens” and Google would put me number one, and on this internet, that's saying something.
But I digress. For some reason, Joe Lyles' gravitational field has apparently shifted in such a manner that people are coming to my site. A certain “Fuckyou,” from Broomfield Colorado, links me to Joe's notesboard. I already had this link, both because I've been there before, because I know how to use a search engine, and because the guy mentioned in the first paragraph gave it to me, but now, thanks to Fuckyou, I really, really have the link. I'm not sure why Fuckyou gave me this link, but since it called me “Jackass” and called itself “Fuckyou” one has to assume it's a big supporter of Lyles, or at least hater of conservatives.
Regardless, as I told Hussain, the key to blogging is to be a dickhole. Hussain writes stuff that's so ridiculously bookish, and emo, it's impossible for anybody to take note of it. I curse about prominent political figures, and generally act like an arrogant jerk. This is how you get to be a nexus point in the bizzare persona wave field that is the internet. I don't know what Joe Lyles has done, I don't know what's going on, but I've felt a “presence in the force” as George Lucas would say. I feel ripples of agitation moving through the net, and I can only assume that the Guerilla has recovered from his Nov 2nd stupor and is back to banging on his cage. Something is going on. It's not really my modus operandi to figure out what it is. Hussain will probably tell me anyway.
A quick review of the root level of Lyles' notesboard reveals that he has indeed been keeping up on it. He mentions George Lakoff, the consultant the Dems have hired to praise them for continuing to do whatever the hell it is that they think they're doing, only to make it seem even more smarmy and pitiful by his approving analysis. I'm sure Lakoff has been around a while, but he's only gained prominence in their organization in the last few months, so Lyles must be watching him.
Perhaps a return to Lyles' site is required. My only hesitation is my lack of interest in wading through the insane user registration system, which is only borderline functional. The site itself is dog slow as well, which doesn't help me any. I think I was registered there as “Jack” in the past, but the site claims accounts expire after 60 days of inactivity, and I'm not posting if I can't be named “Jack.” To whatever Lyles fanbois are reading this, tell your boss I'll post on his stupid notesboards, but only if you set me up with the username I want, and it doesn't expire.
Before I go, a quote from Lyles: ""Back alley mugging?" Rush Limbaugh and his ilk specialize in that kind of stuff. But Rush better stay out of any back alley I'm in. Because I'm no more interested in "rational discourse" with him, than he is with me. I've got an "intellectual roscoe" in my back pocket. And I know how to use it."
You've got to love his spunk. He's gonna kick Rush's ass. Joe, I don't care what color your underwear are, blue, red... Green... Whatever. Rush owns you, backwards and forwards. The man is the greatest of all time. He owns AM radio. He makes money like nobody in radio. He pulls in listeners like nobody in radio. He motivates his base like nobody in radio. He's got his show on MP3, on a pipe that lets me pull it down at 500k+ per second. Your stupid fucking notesboard barely even serves pages. You're talking about Rush Limbaugh, dude. He invented the entire concept (ual) of what you're trying to do. I heard your stupid podcast. You're patterning yourself after him, 100%.
Let me be clear with you, Joe. When guys like you talk about Rush Limbaugh, when you make big claims about taking him down, or providing a liberal counter to him, it just reminds everyone how dominant he is. It doesn't matter if you like his politics. It doesn't matter if you think he's stupid. It's simple numbers. He lines poeple up behind his ideology on a scale that you can't even comprehend. He does exactly what you're trying to do, but he does it, LITERALLY, millions of times better. He's got 15 million listeners. You've got... 15. Don't step to Rush, Joe. Like Nike should have told you, and like Chris Rock did: Just don't do it.
