“[The Democrats] pretended a small conference room was the Judiciary Committee hearing room, draping white linens over folding tables to make them look like witness tables and bringing in cardboard name tags and extra flags to make the whole thing look official.”

Really?  I mean, really?

“The dress-up game looked realistic enough on C-SPAN, so two dozen more Democrats came downstairs to play along. The session was a mock impeachment inquiry over the Iraq war. As luck would have it, all four of the witnesses agreed that President Bush lied to the nation and was guilty of high crimes -- and that a British memo on "fixed" intelligence that surfaced last month was the smoking gun equivalent to the Watergate tapes. Conyers was having so much fun that he ignored aides' entreaties to end the session.”

Yup, really.

Now, just because I didn't blog about it, don't think I didn't hear what Dick Durbin said.  I'm aware what the guy said, I can't even begin to believe it, and it makes me want to crawl into a dark hole and die.  Honestly, I prefer this story.  The Durbin story is horrible, because he's basically just attacking his own nation for no good reason, he's lying, hyperbolizing, and generally being a scumfuck, and it's not even funny.  It's just sad and destructive.  This mock hearing is also destructive and stupid, but at least it's comically retarded, and transparently foolish.  The Democrats agenda is clearly to do as much damage to the nation as they can manage, and then blame it all on Bush.  My only hope is that they do even more damage to themselves in the process, and finish the job a Dean nomination should have started; namely their much needed implosion and disappearance.

But what's really mind blowing about all this, the question that's been sitting in the back of my mind this whole time, is “since when is lying an impeachable offense?”  Not “lying under oath.”  Just “lying.”  Like, if they find a tape, tomorrow, of Bush saying “boy, I can't believe these idiots are gonna go to war.  I made up a lot of lies, and I know it, and we're gonna go to war, and boy oh boy, what a liar I am,” that's STILL not an impeachable offense.  They don't care.  They just say “impeach” a lot, and act like that's all it takes.  It's the same thing they did with Tom DeLay.  He should go back to Texas, and serve his jail time.  For what?  For a crime he hasn't even been ACCUSED of yet?  Sounds good, guys.  See you in 2006, you fucking idiots.

UPDATED:  http://www.democrats.com/node/5037

On Thursday we made history.  All of our determination and hard work paid off as John Conyers and three dozen House Democrats heard unbelievably powerful testimony from Joseph Wilson, Cindy Sheehan, Ray McGovern, and John Bonifaz.

How utterly fucking INSANE is this?  You made history?  Your hard work and determination paid off?  What the fuck are those phrases?  Are they the random output of the populist politician self-masturbation machine?  You're damn right you “made history.”  You manufactured a fake Judiciary Comittee hearing, got it put on C-SPAN, and tried to fool America into believing that they were seeing an actual hearing into a potential Bush impeachment.  You people are actually trying to manufacture an impeachment of an American President in WARTIME.  That's seriously making you proud?  You know what?  I'm just gonna start calling you traitors right now, because, while I know what you're doing hasn't crossed over into traitorhood, you're fully planning to make that transition as soon as you have the means to sufficiently damage national security.

Let's be clear about something.  Bush may have lied, he may not have.  But no matter what evidence you provide, it will never be as clear a demonstration of deception and dishonesty as your farce hearing.  You just tried to mislead America, very clearly, very calculatingly, and very deliberately.  You think that calling it a “powerful” event, you can whitewash that simple fact.  You're liars.  You're deceivers.  You're an embarassment.  You're traitors.

I've had enough of you people.  Stop.  Now.

Durbin makes you sick?? You and all the people like you make ME sick. How can you sleep at night? 1,700 troops and counting are DEAD because of this illegal war. And Bush lying to Congress is most certianly an impeachable offence, so get it straight. What a load of crap. I have had it with the "we can do whatever we want" attitude. I finally know why you and those like you are "pro-life", because you know, deep in your black heart, that as soon as you die, you will be going straight to HELL!

Yaaaay for klo! What an awesome response!

"1,700 troops and counting are DEAD because of this illegal war."

Ok. Please feel free to ask the troops if they'd like to go home without finishing the job. I'm sure you could find plenty who would parrot whatever anti-war, ant-establishment view you'd like. I think you'd find even more, the great majority, who are proud of what they're doing, and want to see this thing through. I think it's quite disrespectful to use those soldiers sacrifice as a weapon to attack what they believe in.

"I finally know why you and those like you are "pro-life""

Oops. Too bad I'm not pro-life. I guess you know me, and people like me so well, huh?

The Dems are approaching certifiable insanity (not being able to tell reality from make-believe. Believing in ones own made up world)

It would be absolutely hilarious except these are elected "officials". That is a little scary.

They should all be incarcerated - but treated gently, of course - for their own good and the nations good.

I don't think these people should be silenced, or anything of the sort. Durbin might deserve a censure vote, but other than that, let them keep talking. The simple fact is that if the American people in general and the left in particular aren't mature enough to elect somebody to replace these idiots, then this is what we, as a nation, deserve.

"You people are actually trying to manufacture an impeachment of an American President in WARTIME. That's seriously making you proud?"

Yes, it fucking does make me proud. And I'm not even American.

WARTIME? Uh, right. Like Bill Hicks said, a war is when TWO countries are fighting.

Loser.

Bill Hicks was a very funny guy, but he, and you, don't know what you're talking about. "When TWO countries are fighting?" Yeah? Ever heard of a civil war? Spanish Civil war? Hell, the AMERICAN CIVIL WAR? I'd say that qualifies as a war. The most costly war in American history, in fact. And based on the outcome of that war, a victory for the North, the sides both agreed that ONE country was fighting itself.

I'm sorry, did you fucking morons say I needed to buy a dictionary?

war (noun): A state of open, armed, often prolonged conflict carried on between nations, states, or parties.

Or what? Or... Parties. This is the United States against radical islam. Two parties. I know it's very complicated for somebody like you, very hard for the UN to figure out which of its forms to fill out for this one. But that's why people like you, and defunct organizations like the UN, are best ignored.

What has come of Conyer's childish antics? Who has Tony Blair backed? Are the media even paying attention any more? What are you proud of? Who's the loser?
