In addition to being a crack soldier, “Jack” Idema is a crack web programmer.

Look:  http://www.superpatriots.us/militaryonly/index.htm
And:  http://www.counterrgroup.org/investigations.htm

Both of these sites have a “login” screen.  In both cases, the login screen is a sham.  I don't know why this is the case, apparently Idema felt that the only thing more impressive than an intensely verbose and repetitive site, is an intensely verbose and repetitive site, that taunts the user with even more verbose repetition, behind a secure login.

But look how shit the coding is.  On the first page, mousing over the “Encrypted Log-In” image, which one assumes is the “submit” button for the login fields above it, it's immediately obvious that this image is a simple HREF to http://www.superpatriots.us/militaryonly/passwordfailed.htm  My password failed?  I haven't even input my password yet, guys!  But when you view the source, sure enough there isn't even a submit button on the form that contains the username and password fields.  Despite this, the site assures us that two things are true:  “If you have a password you can enter this section,“ and “If you don't have a password you are basically fucked.”  Hmmm.  Let me correct you there, guys...  You could have every password in the world.  You're not getting into the section.  So really, it's not me that's fucked, it's your idiot web guy, who couldn't even cobble up a bogus login form that submits to a bogus DB lookup page.  It's all just HREF links.  Muy professionale, senor.

Of course, the second link is more of the same.  Username and password fields, even a submit button, but no form tags, and thus no way for this form ever to submit to any validation code.  Apparently the guys that wrote this page aren't even aware of the password input type, as both sites feature a plain text password field.  He's getting better, though!  They seem to have learned that they'll need form tags.

As long as I'm posting, take a look at the picture in the top right of the first page I linked.  We see “Jack” Idema, brandishing an AK-74.  And before you start correcting me, I'll remind you I'm no candy striper.  That gun has a synthetic magazine, it's an AK-74, and that's not a typo.  It's the newer 5.45mm AK that the Russians have been making since, well, 1974...  Anyway, look at the picture.  Idema seems to be in a pretty serious situation, he's got his AK on his shoulder, and he looks ready to gun down an evil-doer, even as he practices proper gun safety, by keeping his finger off the trigger.  But look at the bystanders.  The guy in the blue turban, looking to the right of frame.  He looks awful jolly for a gunfight type situation, doesn't he?  And what about Jack?  Notice his watch on his left wrist.  That's where right handed people wear their watch.  And yet, he's holding the AK left handed.  Obviously a veteran operator like Jack can shoot with equal facility from either side, but in this situation there's no cover to shoot around, no reason to switch hands...  Unless...  No...  Could Jack have chose to shoot lefty simply so that he's facing the camera?  It couldn't be that he's just posing for the camera, playing soldier, while Afghans chuckle at him... Could it?  No, that couldn't be it...
