The whole “missing RDX fiasco” certainly isn't good news for Bush, but I don't think it's any kind of October Surprise. Most likely, neither is this, but it's got some awesome quotes. One of the reasons I love Nixon, is that the guy produced so many awesome quotes. Some from him, some from his people, they just had a way of saying insanely awesome stuff. In this case, the hitmaker is his special counsel, Charles Colson.
Colson said Kerry was a "complete opportunist...We'll keep hitting him, Mr. President." He also suggested: "Let's destroy this young demagogue before he becomes another Ralph Nader." Strange how things come around, eh? Kerry is running for president, against Nader, and beating the poor old man with his lawyer stick, trying to get him to cough up a half a million votes or so. It'd seem that Colson and Nixon really did fail their nation in failing to destroy Kerry while he was still small. If only they had, the Democrats might be running somebody better than Bush, rather than the painful excuse that is John Kerry.
And how perfect are the adjectives? Opportunist. Demagogue. A man who would go on, in gigolo fashion, to marry two rich women, and live off their fortunes... A man who “has a plan” but very little background on the plan itself, and plenty of appeals to the suffering middle class. If only Nixon and Colson spent more time acting than talking.
Regardless, read this article. It's so fucking amazing, I'm making a local copy. Here's some quotes from it that are just bizzare to me.
- The "board of officers" review reported in the Claytor document is even more extraordinary because it came about "by direction of the President." No normal honorable discharge requires the direction of the president. The president at that time was James Carter.
- Mr. Carter's first act as president was a general amnesty for draft dodgers and other war protesters. Less than an hour after his inauguration on January 21, 1977, while still in the Capitol building, Mr. Carter signed Executive Order 4483 empowering it.
- Mr. Kerry has repeatedly refused to sign Standard Form 180, which would allow the release of all his military records.
- “And five months after Mr. Kerry joined the U.S. Senate in 1985, on one single day, June 4, all of Mr. Kerry's medals were reissued.”
Why is this not in the spotlight? I can understand that the “conservative media” have no desire to run this story, but surely somebody in Bush's campaign is going to shove this up Kerry's ass? I mean, what the hell Rove, the left couldn't hate you any more, why not put this fucking story out there? Is this not a fairly big deal?
