I've always liked the Daily Show, and enjoyed the cast, the writing, etc. But lately, Jon Stewart has let it get totally fucking out of control. Clearly he's partisan, but why can't the fucking guy even make an effort to notice what a total goddamn clown John Kerry is?
Last night he presented an Emmy, and he made a joke along the lines of “we're now questioning if George W. Bush did enough to protect Texas from Oklahoma, and if John Kerry was... wounded enough...” Basically he takes a joke that should be “rib one guy, rib the other guy” and he makes it “rib one guy, rib everyone who questions the other guy.”
Then it got even worse. They did a little pre-filmed skit, mocking the SBVFT. The premise of the skit is that soldiers who had crossed the Potomac with George Washington were now questioning his service to the United States. Obviously the delivery was very humorous. Steven Colbert can make anything funny, no matter how flagrantly partisan. But jesus fucking christ Jon. You're gonna sign off on a skit that portrays questioning John Kerry's patriotism as being as absurd as questioning George Washington's? Are you fucking kidding me? Jon. Get a goddamn grip. George Washington is the father of our nation. John Kerry is a poor presidential candidate who is going to get his ass kicked and then vanish off the map.
