This is what Hussain means when he says “They think that dressing up like Pirates, Clowns, and Mice means something.” These fucking hippies are flocking to NYC to flail around in the streets, shrieking their creedos, to harass republican delegates, and generally “be democratic.” They really think that this is how it works, that their dipshit antics mean something, that it's ok to hate and assault people if they're 'fatcats.' It's just spectacularly gay.

There's a church out on Riverside that apparently has a lot of patrons. Some nights they put out traffic cones and have Fort Collins Police out there directing traffic. One time Ian and I were driving by, and he said “I think it's a little excessive to put three cops on one church. Couldn't they be doing something more useful? Couldn't they be doing something about the hippie problem?” I agree with him. We have a hippie problem. People's speech has gotten to be so free, that they just shriek about anything an everything. I tend to think that the millions of the victims of the Soviet Union, people who learned first hand what a terribly sick joke the hippie ideal becomes in practice, would find this sort of “free speech” to be more than a little appalling. People have died for free speech, been tortured and killed for it. And these jackasses are dressing up like mice, and doing street theatre. It's a fucking embarassment.
Do these people even know what delegates are, what they do, how the electoral college works? Obviously, no, they don't. They didn't understand why Bush won the last election, so why would they have learned how the electoral college works in the meantime? It's about shrieking, it's not about democracy. Regardless, what purpose does harassing delegates serve? What good comes from being insulting, offensive, and inconsiderate to other people? Is that democracy? Or is that just selfish little infants running around New York like the world revolves around them?
