I have spent roughly the last two months speechless when it comes to Keith Olbermann.  I've responded to things he's said in the past, things I thought were insanely stupid and partisan, but at this point the man is beyond description.  He seems to be feeding off the insanity of the far left, off of his own limitless arrogance, and the result is completely, totally lunatic.

This is a man who honestly believes that pompous, hate filled rants against the President are “news.“  This is a man who thinks that amplifying the screams of the most ultra-leftists members of our society is “journalism.“  Not only is he more extreme than somebody like Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly, but he pretends to be a serious newsman.  He compares himself, every single night, to Edward R. Murrow.

Amongst the volume of work he has produced, all of it demonstrates his rabid partisanship and total divorcement from reality, but I think the following serves nicely as a very telling sample.  This was directed at George W. Bush, in regards to John Kerry's incredibly unfortunate bungling of a stump speech.  I am coloring it brown, a color previously reserved only for Kamau Kambon, but now also available for Keith Olbermann, who is, literally, insane.

One [possibility], sir, is that you are far more stupid than the worst of your critics have suggested; that you could not follow the construction of a simple sentence; that you could not recognize your own life story when it was deftly summarized; that you could not perceive it was the sad ledger of your presidency that was being recounted.

That's amazing, Keith.  You're now officially out of your fucking mind.  Democrats across the country are calling on Kerry to apologize.  Democrats across the country are taking Kerry's words at face value, and saying he has insulted the troops.  Democrats, Keith.  Not Republican hacks.  Democrats.  Democrats across the country are burying their face in their hands, and asking themselves what they did to deserve such a clumsy-mouthed defeat magnet in their ranks.

Keith Olbermann just called Kerry's bungled joke a “deft summary.”  Deft.  Keith called it deft.  John Kerry managed to take a very mundane joke, a joke unlikely to get a laugh from even the most stalwart liberal, a joke that nobody was even listening to, and he managed to turn it into a major embarassment for his party, and probably the event that will both end his career, and define his legacy as one of bumbling, losing and embarassment.

In short, Kerry's delivery of that joke was probably one of the least deft moments in American political history.  Everyone in the entire country, besides Keith Olbermann, knows this.

Keith.  You need to stop.  Seriously.  You're a tragic embarassment.  You are not helping this country, you are cheapening an already budget rate debate.  You are so utterly and totally dishonest, so incredibly narcissistic and caustic, every second you spend on air discredits and damages the concepts of debate, of journalism, of intellectual honesty, and, worst of all, of the right to free speech itself.
